I made mint juleps for the first time today for my wife and myself to watch the Derby. Rather strong, but pretty good. It was a heck of a race, and very enjoyable.

Today’s “Frank and Ernest” has a horse losing by a nose in a photo finish because of mugging for the camera...the cartoonist didn’t anticipate a three-horse photo finish.

Thanks. That camera angle behind the horses enabled a great view of that jockey’s boldness. The horse in front of him was moving to the rail. If he had waited even one second more, he couldn’t have squeezed through. Saw his chance and took it.

Brian Hernandez jr, Louisiana boy...last of the few great American Jockeys left in racing. He had a dream weekend..yesterday won the Kentucky Oaks and today the Kentucky Derby. Same trainer too, Ken McPeek. 2 of the true good guys...
