I’m skeptical of reports on happenings outside of the USA.
Heck, even reporting inside the US leaves a lot to be desired.
Where possible, I like to validate things.
Hence the ping.
Candidly, my biggest WHY question is around Europe’s seemingly gone all-in on “climate change” laws while we still have healthy skepticism and opposition in the US. Again, maybe that’s the news obscuring the truth.

Because it is the innate tendency of the European (esp. the inhabitants of northern Europe - incl. Germany, the Scandinavian countries, etc.) to welcome more oppressive govt. oversight and intrusion. It is "in their DNA," so to speak.
That (unspoken) distal goal is best met by agreeing with the (on the surface: laudable) proximal goal of "climate change" laws.
It's the same reason that I - an ardent rationalist and denier of Spiritualism and New-Agism - suddenly embraced Pseudo-Science when it meant that my hated mother-in-law, who had been complaining for years about "geomantic rays" emanating from the Earth in our locality disturbing her health, had to move to the next state, in order to finally escape their deleterious effects.
