If you’re flying through LAX there’s a legendary place called The Apple Pan that has been there forever. The burgers are distinctive, and the pie out of this world. Small, and very crowded during rush hour, otherwise you can usually get a seat at the counter, the only place you can sit. Just a few blocks from the 405.
Very distinctively LA.

It used to be a nice attraction but now it’s a high crime area and a dump. I was fortunate enough to go there in the late 80s. I hear it wasn’t long after I was there it started going bad. Saw plenty of street performers. One comedian was funny as anything but he overused the “MF” term too often. Saw a guy juggling chainsaws. A couple of weeks later he was on a HBO show.Those days are gone.
