That’s right. If only people read their Bible. The formula for life is in Genesis 2:6. Dust plus God’s breat (spirit) makes a life. We BECOME a living soul, we are not given a soul. Take away life and we return to dust and the “spirit” or breath of God goes back to him. The whole Bible compares death to a sleep. Only God is immortal. Satan told Eve she wouldn’t die and millions still believe it. No, we die. totally and fully. There is no disembodied soul that lives forever. We are not immortal until Christ returns, raises us from the grave and gives us immortality. A whole new body like his.
Now people will quote, “to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord”....but they don’t read that in context. Paul is talking about an earthly body.....and it’s not a question of “if”..it’s a question of “when.” We put on immortality at the 2nd coming.
The doctrine of an immortal soul was the first lie told to Eve. And now people pray to Mary, to saints, believe in purgatory, a disembodied soul, the occult, witchcraft, spiritism, you name it....all based on a lie.
The Bible says David has not yet ascended. Paul describes the resurrection at the 2nd coming ON THAT DAY....Jesus comes to gather and separate the wheat from the tares AT HIS COMING...
Oh, they say.....well , that’s just the body. As if that makes sense. Hey, why do I want a body if I am a spirit and can fly and walk through walls and stuff.....it’s nonsense and a deception.
And now they will say....but Lazarus was in heaven ....uh, that’s a parable with a message. Was Lazarus also talkng to people in hell? Was Lazarus , are we all at the bosom of Abraham? .....he must be have more than dolly parton if so.
That’s a parable. Ironically, the real Lazarus who died......Jesus didn’t call his soul down from heaven. he went to his tomb and raised him.
Let the misunderstood out of context texts begin now....It’s all Catholic and of pagan origin. that’s how they made a lot of money..soul sin purgatory and you can buy them out.
We let the Bible interpret itself and we are told..death is a sleep in Christ if you are in Christ and we will be raised on that last day. Abel is going to wake up and go....hey, what happened......Cain came after me and that’s the last thing I remember. That’s the truth.....
Well...except for, “To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord”. Or our Jesus, while still on the cross, assuring the penitent thief, “Today you will be with me in Paradise”. But maybe Apostle Paul and our Lord Jesus were both confused./S
