Well...except for, “To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord”. Or our Jesus, while still on the cross, assuring the penitent thief, “Today you will be with me in Paradise”. But maybe Apostle Paul and our Lord Jesus were both confused./S

since the original authors of the Bible did NOT use punctuation it’s more likely to read ‘And Jesus said to him, “Assuredly, I say to you today, you will be with Me in Paradise.”

reads differently there doesn’t it?

read Vespa’s posts for a thorough explanation of your questions. It will help you understand. The Bible is the only source of Truth and that’s what I stand on

Or you could realize that the translators added puncuation. Translators who believed in an immortal soul. So let’s move the comma over one word.......Jesus says.....I say to you TODAY, (comma)...You will be with me in Paradise.

And to clinch it, we know Jesus didn’t go to paradise that Friday. He died. He went to a tomb. He was dead. If he didn’t die, none of us have a chance because there is no remission of sin without the shedding of blood....death. God had to die.

But you have him living, never really dying.....no, taking a thief to heaven. John 3:16.....God GAVE his only begotton. Jesus died so I could live.

Jesus made a promise on that day, a day when all hope was lost, a day when that thief didn’t think he had a chance...and Jesus says......I SAY TO YOU TODAY....I’m telling you NOW, on this day.....that.......You will be with me in paradise.

Puncuation is not in the original manuscripts......it was added by translators.
