Great question! I noticed he picked on a small one. I have personally confronted one that was 2000 pounds. He would have lost his leg had he picked on that one.

“Exactly how did the Bison get drunk??”

My first thought too. Do the Bison have bars now, and if so, why can’t the people who run the park simply LEAVE THEM ALONE.

Would it have been OK if he was sober?

I hate those drunk-kicking bison! Definitely prefer the sober ones

“An Idaho man is accused of kicking a bison while drunk”

The article doesn’t say. Perhaps the bison was tranquilized...

How else does a human enable a bison to recover?

(Alleged Drunken Bison Kicking)

I’m gonna say that seems like a bad idea.

It is not just drunk men who risk life and limb to get close to a bison. About twenty years ago, my mother was part of a tour group of seniors visiting Yellowstone. An elderly woman in the group decided that she wanted a closer picture of a bison. So, at one stop, without anyone noticing, she slipped between the fence rails and walked a hundred feet or so to within spitting distance of a grazing Bison.

When someone in the group noticed and raised the alarm, my mother, then in her early seventies, quickly slipped the fence and retrieved the woman before any harm was done -- other than both of them getting a royal chewing out from the tour guide.

I would really try to avoid a bison...

But that’s just me.
