I see more reporting about the wheels falling off Boeing planes than the wheels having all fallen off the U.S.

Sloppy maintenance. Mechanic who performed tire change most likely didn’t install the two lock bolts on the axle nut. Left main gear outboard wheel, also called #1 main wheel. The rotation of the #1 main wheel would spin the axle nut off, if the two lock bolts were not installed. Right hand threads on all wheel positions.

737s have been in service for over 50 years.

There are over 5,000 currently flying.

If main gear wheel security was ever an issue, it would have evidenced itself long, long before now.

This is a maintenance, and by extension, an airline issue.

I fly 737s frequently, and prefer them to most Airbus acft.
