As Ukraine/NATO hardware and weapons dwindled, Western nations started sending small drones for the Ukrainians to use to attack Russian tanks - and the drones were suprisingly effective given the low investment cost. Drones weren't enabling the Ukraine to win the war, but they were inflicting disruption and damage, particularly to tanks, which slowed Russian advancements. This led some to say that the age of the tank was over.
The new Russia "Turtle Tanks' have supposedly 'shocked' NATO. The 6 minute video clip below claims the Ukrainians say the 'Turtle Tank' is almost impossible to destroy. There's a heavy metal shroud over the top of the tank; weapons systems are under the metal shroud along with sandbags to absorb the impact of shells or other arms/drones.
The main impact of the introduction of Turtle Tanks appears to be speed - Russians are able to approach and overtake villages with fewer delays, disruptions. This would explain the reporting by Alexander Mercouris (YOUTUBE) I've been monitoring the last 4 days. His reports now seem like lists of the unpronoucible (for me) names of villages the Russians are in the process of overtaking, or which are now under Russian control.
10 years ago, I never would have imagined 'modern warfare' to feature battles with small drones attacking 'turtletanks'; both seem relatively small and akward, but they are presently quite effective on the battlefield.
I do wonder if this abrupt acceleration of Russian control is why NATO has stated that Ukraine will join NATO, and the MSM is fanning talk of WWIII. NATO is losing sooner rather than later and they may want to 'change the channel' (MSM programming).
It's how we are being taken over without even a fight! We just give up and pay for invaders to take our places.

As this appears to remove about 300 degrees of turret traverse, its essentially indicating that one of WWII’s more effective and lower cost AFV’s, the turretless tank destroyer, should see a significant renaissance in it’s creation, production and use with these “sheds” over them...

And the whole low cost high mobility drone and UAV field may end up putting the whole AFV environment back up for battlefield evolutionary grabs. Drones are probably going to end up being far more effective and engaging the light vehicle/on-foot heavy AT teams firing more sophisticated missiles than they will be in punching through these tracked Quonset huts which themselves will start seeing more active vehicle to vehicle engagements.
The moment these tanks face something more than a swarm of hobby shop drones they are going to get waxed. Buttondowned tankers are blind enough as it is. These things are veritable black holes for visibility out. They are the brass band of stealthy.
That the Russians can't handle the Ukrainian drone swarms shows just how far the once vaunted Russian EW capability has fallen. It's not that hard to jam the control channel of these cheap drones. This is why I'm not worried about claims of massive swarms of Russian or Chinese drones on the battlefield or at sea.
