They try to make this emergence of both types to be some sort of apocalypse. Fact is their territories don't converge, so it will be the normal 17 year thing if you're in their area.

Still annoying, though.

13 year where I am in MO. 17 year for WI.

First year we were here, we were basically camping in the rural woods while we looked for a place to buy. It was a heat wave summer and the camper AC wouldn’t cut it so we spent most of our days outside under a canopy playing cards in 100+ degrees. That was 13 years ago. Surprised we didn’t go insane from the heat and cicadas.
