When I was the age of this 24 year old skank tattoos on women were thankfully rare, and those who had one usually made sure to have it in a spot that the general public did not see, the exception perhaps being a very small butterfly or something similar on an ankle.

It depends upon the industry in which the woman works.

You are right insofar as women in white collar work, generally, have no ink or something small on their foot or shoulder. That probably will stay true for some time, because in business you don’t want to give the competition any potential advantage. Yes, some clients may like tattoos but, broadly, a sales rep with a sleeve won’t get the sale.

Today, if the woman is in retail or the arts, things open up. Women employees of Macy’s probably won’t sport a bunch of tats. But someone in advertising or a young woman working at Hot Topic or Doc Martens? It’s part of the uniform.
