Well the family just won a major lawsuit.
As for that officer, sir you will be old one day too and karma can be a bitch.

I was thinking that too. He must have been the very last unit in.

Would have been 72 this year.

He also had post-traumatic stress disorder and health issues from Agent Orange exposure during combat in Vietnam.
It sounds like he lied about his service record, perhaps to get disability payments. The US completed its withdrawal from Vietnam in 1973, when the veteran was 17 years old.

That’s a start, but only a start. According to the article, the victim was manhandled three times. The last time he was thrown to the ground while in the hospital, and so violently that his head bounced four inches off the floor.
And what of the monster, the cop who killed the old vet? You’d think he’d be in jail. Nope. He’s working as a police officer in a different department.
Anyone who says today’s cops are fine except for a few bad apples won’t find me very sympathetic.

I misread the article. The veteran died in 2020, not 2024. So he was age 13 when the US left Vietnam.
To: Right_Wing_Madman
He was born in 1951, died 2020.
Heartbreaking. A lost old man suffering dementia is heartbreaking even even if a violent cop hadn’t killed him.
If only that cop were a rogue cop and not an ordinary one.
End qualified immunity.

He was 68 when he was assaulted. That was in February of 2020. He died six months later.
The headline writer could have done a better job.

I think you went in the wrong direction with your math. Add 4 to 17. He was 21 (roughly) when the US left Vietnam.
So he well could have been in Vietnam for a year or more.

This would never happen in my police force. They should send a few officers up to get some training.

Check your math.
The article states he died at age 69 in 2020 six months after being injured. 2020-69=1951.
It further states he enlisted in 1968 after he turned 18. 1951+18=1968.

When I saw them say 68 and Nam vet I said to myself I’m 68. never had to be part of Nam and that’s not right. Then I saw the incident was 4 years ago in 2020.
So I did math and conclusion followed.

You are correct. Math is hard.
To: Right_Wing_Madman
He would have been 21 in 1973. If he was 68 in 2020 then he was born in 1952. 1973-1952=21
