When I was a teenager working for the family business, I would sometimes complain about the pay (there wasn’t any), and my Dad would tell me he had already doubled my pay a few months back. My retort, “oh, that’s right!, well then why stop at doubling it? Maybe tripling it would get me to work harder.” He’d chuckle even though I was a bit of a smart @ss sometimes.
