I wonder who prevails in this movie? Likely the government!
Wow that looks like it’s gonna be a cool movie. But realistically I think a civil war in this country will start along the lines of patriot snipers taking out various politicians and media personalities first. They will operate more like the Irish Republican Army than directly confronting the military, though military targets will likely be on the list.
Critics are apparently saying its good, so you know it’s probably full of Commie propaganda.
The current write-ups on it suggest that it may have the opposite effect of that intended. Probably something like the movie “Falling Down” where we were supposed to hate the anti-hero but ended up rooting for him.

Starts with a bankrupt premise that only a foreigner would come up with. The idea that Texas and California would cooperate on anything is beyond absurd. CW2 will probably consist of TX vs. CA.

I just saw a short reaction from the Film Threat guys. I don’t know their politics in specific detail, but they are outspokenly anti-woke and savage on DEI. They have a running series on how DEI has destroyed Disney in particular. They ain’t wokies.
Anyhow, they’ve not seen Civil War yet but Chris Gore saw the first ten minutes as a special early peek. He likes Alex Garland movies (except for Men) and considers him one of the more thoughtful writer-director around. Personally, I’m not as taken with Ex Machina as a lot of people, though it is interesting, ambitious, well made and thoughtful, so it’s worth a watch and a must watch if you are interested in AI films (and willing to accept some nudity). I do think Never Let Me Go is the best anti-abortion film that no one except me seems to realize is an anti-abortion film. (I’d love to ask Garland if he’s thought through that subtext.
Anyhow, Chris Gore’s take, based on seeing just the first ten minutes, is that the trailer is both bad and highly misleading. He thought the trailer tries to make Civil War look like an action film, and one can understand the studio’s marketing calculus there given the bulk of who actually goes to theaters nowadays. Based on the first ten minutes, however, he thinks the movie is more about media manipulation driving polarization. He also guessed that the Texas-California alliance, which EVERYONE thinks is bizarro world crazy, might be a deliberate attempt to scramble the political equation so that the movie doesn’t come across as a heavy handed election year commentary on current American politics. The USG, by the way, has devolved into a dystopian quasi-dictatorship and the rebels commit war crimes, so pick your side.
Maybe. We’ll see. Based on the trailer, I had put this down as a hard pass. The Film Threat guys say they’re going to a pre-release screening next week. I imagine they’ll be back with a no-spoilers reaction. I’m willing to wait and see. Alex Garland is a 50-something English guy still married to his first wife, not a Hollywood dumpster fire clown, and Civil War is an A24 film, so it’s a complete wildcard.
I’ll hold fire until I know more.
That painting comes to mind often when I contemplate the decay of our own civilization.
I really wish bogus historians would stop referring to the USA as an empire.
The most self-destructive pathology in the USA has been our habit of giving money to other countries and opening our border to any political psycho who wants to walk across it or fly over it.
Liberals are the violent ones... a person has to be delustional to think that Jan 6 (one riot ONE day - no spary painting - no fires, etc etc) is somehow the same as over 200 riots by progressives, Antifa and BLM and over 2 billion dollars worth of damage.
Liberal sexual weirdos are also the more common mass killers AFTER black mass murderers. Both groups - democrats. And yeah, if the killers is a white male conservative it’s non stop media coverage but thaT DOESN’T negate reality. The FBI is corrupt but they have numbers on ‘people who kill more than four others’ in a n attack. And it’s blacks then sexual weirdos.
“ Alex Garland is a 50-something English guy still married to his first wife, not a Hollywood dumpster fire clown…”
Yeah. I do see his wife is making a film about Frida Kahlo, Mexican millionaire Marxist.
“ He also guessed that the Texas-California alliance, which EVERYONE thinks is bizarro world crazy, might be a deliberate attempt to scramble the political equation…”
That seems obvious. Like plausible deniability.
“The USG has devolved into a dystopian quasi-dictatorship”
Sounds like they nailed Xiden’s lawless America perfectly.
It would be nice. We flirted with the idea of Empire back in the late 1800s following the Spanish American War (when suddenly we had lots of overseas colonies) and pre-Great War when dear ol WW was invading every country he could.
By the 1930s we figured out this was a pretty bad idea. They were a net drain not a net benefit with the way we were set up. We were quietly moving to either let them go or bring them in as states when WWII happened. Following that we decided the hell with it and except for a few strategic bases decided to cut most loose.
Puerto Rico is the big problem we have left over from that time. Mostly because Congress in their wisdom decided to nationalize the whole island so they could use them as conscripts in the Great War. At some point we are going to have to tell PR to either fish or cut bait. Either Independence or Statehood.
In any case, the US is not an Empire.
“...patriot snipers taking out various politicians and media personalities first...”
Considering that only the Rats ever bother to fight, I don’t see this happening. Instead, a more likely scenario is a rogue nuclear device being detonated on Washington DC. It would be a win win for America and the world.
.
Yes. The Course of Empire series.

You have got to be kidding !
Just because it didn't formally annex NATO countries after WW2 doesn't mean it doesn't act as an Empire. There is no national interest in a border war in Ukraine. Only a Globalist Imperial interest.
--------------------------------------
Karl Rove:
. "That's not the way the world really works anymore," he continued. "We're an empire now, and when we act, we create our own reality. And while you're studying that reality -- judiciously, as you will -- we'll act again, creating other new realities, which you can study too, and that's how things will sort out. We're history's actors . . . and you, all of you, will be left to just study what we do."
