Rachel Berg, 18, was speeding in her brand-new Chevy Corvette on a Mesa highway about 10:30 p.m. March 12 when she rear-ended a Harley-Davidson being ridden by Michael Clark, 46, a Tempe park ranger...
Berg pulled over and tried to perform CPR on the fallen biker but he died at the scene — then told police she couldn’t stop in time before ramming the Hog, AZ Family said.
Data from her car’s airbag control module reportedly indicated that she had been traveling at 155 mph five seconds before impact and 87 mph when she struck the bike after slamming on the brakes.

Slowly repeat this junior.
It’s not the gun, it’s the person using it...It’s not the car, it’s the person using it.
Speaking for a friend. They woke up one night, because of a loud noise.
Outside of their house, up in a few nearby pines and oak trees, were the surviving parts of a recently new Chevrolet Corvette.
And other stuff, was all around.
I learned some time later, when I returned to town and asked, “What happened to your trees?”
[In college I drove a ‘67 Dodge. It was a BEAST of a car]
But was it shiny red, Super Stock?
Naw, just a basic beige. But it was BIG. There was no escaping it. On campus it was called “the boat” :-D
The 1960s and the 1970s had THE best automobiles
Good thing I’m not a billionaire - I’d have a collection of hundreds
Reminded me of driving my new (to me) Prelude on a very empty, crossroad-free two-lane road out toward Vandenburg Air Force base, well north of Santa Barbara. I wanted to see how it would handle going over 100MPH, and the location seemed perfect for that. I stopped accelerating at 120. Smooth as silk.
Did the little princess say she was sorry?
She had her whole life ahead of her
Now..........
And that poor man and his family....
Scary cars should be banned!
Who needs a car that can do 155?
Buses that wreck can kill dozens of people, so all motorized vehicles should only carry one or two people at the most.
Cars should be kept in locked garages so they can’t be stolen and used for crime.
Cars that can’t be, should have ignition locks, as many children have been hurt or even killed by having access to their parent’s keys.
Car accessories that make it more powerful should be outlawed!
If your car is built with no bumper, you shouldn’t be able to install one later. Keep it stock.
(Ya see where I’m going with all this?)
The key word is CONTROL.
Next year’s model will ping the cops if 10 MPH over the speed limit.
But, but...
it is SCARY looking!
This is the first time I’ve seen road rage on a computer!
Oh, it was still ‘new’, just customized.
Yup. It was an SL320 in a Chrysler suit. Great little car though. Kinda wish I still had it.
*SLK320*
“What was her father thinking when he got her a Vette at 18. Should have had a Honda Civic or something similar.”
Just not a late model Civic Type R. They top out at 169/170 mph (or so i’m told).
In the early 1960’s, on the same road, at a different location, the same thing happened. The early model Chevrolet Corvette, stuck up in the top of a tree. My sister lost a friend.
