Trump's New York fraud ruling sets precedent that lying about square footage is wrong?

KEYWORDS:
This guy visited approximately 50 commercial rental properties in New York City, and measured the square footage.

In 100% of them, the realtors lied about the square footage.

None of them have been prosecuted.

In the entire city, Donald Trump is apparently the only person who has ever been prosecuted for this.

The guy in the video now lives in Texas, and when he measured a commercial rental property in Texas after he decided to relocate his business there, it was actually bigger than the advertised amount, because Texas enforces that law for everyone.

He said that he doesn't like Trump, but that it's not fair for the city to treat Trump differently than it treats everyone else. This guy has a lot of integrity. I really admire him for that.

This square footage beef is a James lie and a red herring.

Basically a typo by the real estate agent. The agent mistakenly transposed 3 floors for a total of 10,000 sq ft to 3 floors at 10000 sq ft for a total of 30,000 sq ft.

This error was discovered and corrected for the banks in a matter of days after submittal.

The morning after the insane penalty was announced, the Governor of New York went before concerned real estate investors and frantically explained that they have no reason to worry, because this would never happen to them, it was only to be applied to Donald Trump.

That defines a case of unequal treatment before the law.

We had a Revolution in this country to stop exactly such abuses.

We created a Constitution, which remains one of the most significant documents in human history, to ensure that this would not happen here.

This evil must be stopped.

Now.

By us.

If this ugly inside and out bitch follows thru with this shame ,the scales of justice have been shoved off the table.
This BS can’t stand after appeal and when he wins ,she better have every bit of the real state ready and back the way it was or she is going pay dearly.

Tax assessors often use outside measurements while livable space is reduced by wall thickness, stairwells, shafts, ducts etc.

An Irish society, an unpaid loan and the hypocrisy of Letitia James
Suit charges fraud by Letitia James

By Social Links for Miranda Devine, nypost.com, Published March 17, 2024

To celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, here is a tale of financial shenanigans at the American Irish Historical Society, in which Trump-deranged New York Attorney General Letitia James is hoist by her own petard.

It involves a grand old building on Fifth Avenue, an unpaid loan, a fading family dynasty, a James Joyce theatrical production which almost ended in fisticuffs, and hypocrisy from the AG as obvious as a glass of green beer.

It all began when James Doyle, a wealthy Georgia businessman with a love of his Irish roots, joined the board of the nonprofit society, whose crown jewel is a rare Gilded Age mansion at 991 Fifth Ave., right across from Central Park and the Met.

Over the years, financial mismanagement and misfortune had befallen the society, and it was facing foreclosure. So in 2017, the board turned to Doyle for a $3 million loan, structured like a private mortgage. He was told that the Beaux-Arts townhouse was worth $80 million that included valuable air rights.

However, the society only made a few payments and Doyle soon found things weren’t quite as they seemed.

I would expect there to be a written standard so that everyone is on the same page.

Sounds like we need another revolution to reset the constitution.

Would someone tell me what happens to the buildings owners investment when buildings are seized by the state of NY? There are a number of buildings eyed by the state that have mortgages on them and where there are multiple investors. Are the SOL?

Imagine if James had followed NYS law and had a jury trial. This evidence would all have been entered. There was no trial, only a declaration of guilt by the judge and a sentencing hearing.

There never even was a trial - the judge ruled against Trump via summary judgment.

Fraud cases are the most complex and difficult to prove types of legal case. It is inconceivable that any civil fraud trial, much less the one against Trump, could adjudicated via summary judgment.

And you had to pay the fine or do the time before you could appeal to a higher court.

Sure some serve their time while appealing. But Trump can’t even appeal until he hands over the entire fine.

I wouldn’t do a penny of business in NY.
