I had forgotten about this guy but he tossed pizza on the ground as part of a protest against a then recently enacted city council measure that called for the mandatory replacement of gas- and (more significantly, I might add) wood-fired pizza ovens with electric ovens all in an effort to “save the planet.”
New York-style thin-crust pizza would be no more.
I think I described him as a hero at the time.

Sounds like at least one New Yorker is waking up. Do you recall if he was supported by others?
Protest sounds good, but maybe he could have employed a different method. But who knows how much the media have distorted this story?
