So help me out here. If one takes this Effexor stuff to become “anti-depressed” why does one get so happily un-depressed that sooeecide seems like a good idea? Sounds like one dies in a state of total bliss? Sounds more like a covid-type design feature than an accident? If we could just pass this stuff out to our enemas we could solve a lot of problems?

I'm not categorically against medications taken for mental health, but there are many that have, over the years, been excused for causing suicidal thoughts and some of those fare worse than placebo's in trials.

The black box warning about suicidal ideation indicates the patient should tell people if they 'start having thoughts of suicide' but it's likely some of those were taking the medication because they already had such thoughts. Self reporting doesn't seem good enough.

I know people who benefit from anti-depressents. A woman I worked with was so fragile and her history of trauma kept her awake at night so she was prescribed anti-depresents that helped her sleep. Yay! And she became suicidal, but I know she was already a wounded soul so there's no proof it was medication related.

I know two identical twin sisters who said in our bible study that they would no longer be alive if not for anti-depressants. So I am glad those who need helpful drugs can get them and enjoy quality of life, in addition to life itself.

But the over prescription of medications to others for every conceivable loss and disappointment, particularly to the young, seem like CIA indoctrination. Drug our nation and then program with television 'programming'. It always sounds like they are bragging when the news tells us what huge proportion of our nation is on anti-depressants, and how many more now that lockdowns disrupted lives, lost businesses, brought on stress related divorce, drinking, drug abuse...

I recall reading about super concentrated fish oils that have been shown to help with depression, but the insurance companies and medical regime do not consider them valid. Well, is that like Ivermectin was said to be'not valid' or is concentrated fish oil really 'not valid'?

It seems like in addition to 'numbing the pain' the vulnerable need to be able to talk to someone, but services like that are of limited availability, and when available are sometimes met with ridiculously unqualified credentialed staff. One such staff asked a 15 year old who was suicidal a question so arcane and theoretical, canned from college level psychology classes (e.g., the id, the shadow) that I didn't even know how to translate it for the girl. And here I thought we were getting the girl actual 'help'. *sigh*

Some therapists/drugs save lives, some don't.

SSRI❗ 'Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor'... Serotonin controls many brain cycle functions... sleep for one simple example. Some not yet understood - which naturally becomes inconsequential in the face of big profits. Also quite active drug agent in the youth more than the aged.

Actually Effexor, Venlafaxine, is clased an SNRI (serotonin–norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor), intended to treat depressive and anxiety disorders. The above still applies, even more so!

A very early antihistamine - 1950s - was discovered in the 1990s to have been a mild SSRI! I don't have access to my files and my memory vague late night, but I think Doxylamine succinate, sold prominently as Unisom - a sleep aid.

Maybe 10 years ago Wikipedia highlighted Doxylamine as the world's most effective over-the-counter sleep aid. I have relied on it for years - in moderation of course. Walmart sells it cheap - also still Unisom - but it is such a small bottle in the aspirin/sleep aid section you might need Pharmacy help finding it. 😌
