A photo of a venomous snake barely visible beneath dead leaves has reminded Aussies to be wary of the creatures.
The pictures was taken in bushland near the aptly named Snake Valley, west of Ballarat, on Wednesday.
It was found by Hodgson's Snakes, a snake-catching business based out of Ballarat, who revealed the snake in question was a venomous lowland copperhead that can grow up to 1.7m-long.
The snake's brown scales can barely be seen as it's almost perfectly camouflaged among the layer of dead leaves on the ground.
Hodgson's Snakes' owner, Gianni Hodgson, told Daily Mail Australia they relocated the snake to the bush after being called by a nearby home-owner who found it underneath a pile of rubble on their property.

My property in Tennessee was covered up with Copperheads. My dogs started hunting them. The terrier would get their attention and one of the big dogs would jump and grab it behind the head. And then there was the time.................

It appears to be just to the lower right of the center of the red circle.
It only seems to be a tiny portion of scales from its side.
I think all the rest is not visible.

Did you ever fillet one to fry up? I can say the rattlesnake I’ve had tasted great, pan-fried.

Trick photo. Since it is Australia, there are 37 animals in the picture capable and eager to kill you.

The Australian copperhead is not really related to the American copperhead. It’s in the cobra family. Wiki says it’s not especially venomous by Australian standards, about the same as an India Cobra. That says more about the other snakes in Australia than the copperhead IMO.
