An autistic boy was shot dead by police in California after he ran towards them with a bladed gardening tool, according to officials.
Harrowing bodycam footage shows the moment Ryan Gainer, 15, runs out of his Apple Valley in San Bernardino county on Saturday and towards the deputies.
A deputy is heard saying, 'Hey get back! Get back or you're gonna get shot,' before opening fire.
Police showed up at his home after receiving a 911 call reporting the teen was assaulting family members and damaging property, as reported by KTLA.
According to an official report, Gainer charged at the officers with the five-foot-long gardening tool as soon as they arrived.
A deputy said he tried to get away but opened fire after the teen chased after him.
'Without provocation, Gainer raised the bladed end of the tool and ran toward the deputy,' the release stated.
'The deputy retreated, and Gainer chased the deputy in an attempt to assault him with the bladed end of the tool.'
Officers provided medical aid until paramedics arrived, but the teen was later declared dead at the hospital.
No deputies were injured in the incident, which is under investigation by the police department's specialized investigations division.
During the 911 call, Gainer's sister reported that he was attacking one of their siblings and trying to break a window and door.

You might want them to help, but will they even come? And as far as trying to solve it if the thugs are gone if and when they get there they’ll take a report but they won’t bother to try and solve it too much work for petty vandalism.
“Never, ever, call the police”

If you’re never ever gonna call the police, be prepared to call for EMS instead. For when your psycho yute lops your head off with his scythe.
Very true.

Nope. Calling the police in this instance probably saved innocent lives.
Yup, similar to combat, one person opens fire and so does everyone else.
I didn’t see the video. I just read the details. This was a wholly justified shoot.
No. I’d take care of it myself.
This is one of the few police shootings I’ve seen where the officer tried to flee. I think 90% of cops would have shot before the kid made it through the door. This cop was running away, and legitimately fearing for his life. Clearly he did not want to shoot.
You call your infantry buddy.
Yeah - that’s a deadly weapon.
I thought the gardening tool might have been something else.
“Hey Trevor, this is Djacarious up in editing. You have to change that sentence where the kid is chasing the cops and yelling ‘My hoe gonna’ git’ja!”
Never. Never seen it once work well, but I’ve seen a lot of lives ruined.
“There are no situations so dire they cannot be made worse by the addition of a cop.”

You aren’t the first to make this point. Others have also. They - like you - are way wrong. Read the article. Read the replies. Thank God the cops were called here.
You have a habit of posting snowflake material. I’ll chalk this up to that.
My Grandfather was a take care of it in the family…never call police. I agree with him…God rest his soul.

Even though this was a justified shooting, I suspect the family will win big in the ghetto lottery. Just another case of cops shooting a black boy.
It was too late at that point. The family should had their kid institutionalized until he’s heavily medicated. If that’s not possible, then maybe he’ll have to stay at the institution for life. That’s what we used to do in the old days.
Ping me will ya? When a deranged family member kills a loved one while you stood by helplessly.
So your grandfather would have killed the boy? Good to know.
Police are there to fill out paperwork and pump testosterone and adrenaline into chaotic situations.
Avoid those situations.
