Does anyone know why so many flights have been cancelled? My wife was going to fly from Phoenix to Miami this evening, but the flight was cancelled, and there seems to be nothing else available on any airline. At first the airline said it was due to weather, but later somebody said it was something to do with air traffic control problems. There seems to be nothing on the news about this.
I flew this afternoon from Manchester NH to Orlando FL and it was quite turbulent, FAs strapped in 75% of the ride. My flight was delayed and when I got off and saw all the flights that were cancelled I felt pretty lucky that I got here at all.

Sure is a cluster of mishaps.
I do not fly as much as I used to, but last year flying to the Bahamas we had an hour hold at Myrtle Beach. ATC issues will continue, thanks to our glorious leader mayor Pete.
As one who was an ATC in the military I can say weather delays can help you get to your destination in one piece. I love aviation related anything but actually getting on a plane terrifies me. Add in turbulence and I’d be a basket case, so a delay for weather I’d be ok with.
You had to post that?
In the morning?
Both can be true. ATC delays caused by weather, which in turn drives cancellations downstream in the airplane or crew’s schedule.
EC
True, and I don’t know exactly what my wife was told. The reason I posted was to find out if anyone had heard anything about recent ATC problems.
True.
I had lasagne.
Take your pick: doors falling off, engines on fire, crazy customers opening doors in flight, drunk pilots, coins in engines, and my favorite, brain damaged DEI hires in control towers.
Your welcome.
I was hoping that it would be:
"United Airlines is running out of airplanes...."
"...and is recalling all "DEI" pilots, for more "training"...
Friend of mine just had this happen to him on the same day you posted this.
It wasn’t a very good day for it, as it caused my wife and her friends to miss a cruise that’s leaving Miami today. Would have been her first cruise, too. Fortunately she got some sort of trip insurance, so she’ll get a refund.
