I grew up in that neighborhood before it was ....well.

Same here, lived near there as a young lad in the early to mid 60’s, until we moved to the western edge of the city.

I was 84th and Ada, Cook School. and Calumet High. I got moved to Dubuque, Iowa Jan. 1954. Culture shock but for the good. Small world mate!
