Our Constitutional Republic Has Gone Crazy But There’s Nowhere To Hide
American Thinker ^ | 2 Mar, 2024 | Matt Keener

Even as more people try to escape the madness of society by opting for the simple life, it is inevitable that the government will not let them.

My newsfeed this week was a mixture of Laken Riley’s murder, Aaron Bushnell’s self-immolation outside of the Israeli embassy, and Dr. Phil becoming increasingly “red-pilled”—or, at least, attuned to the fact that the left and the mainstream media world (but I repeat myself) in which he works were completely wrong and even insane on topics like COVID restrictions and school closures, the southern border, and promoting the “trans youth movement.” No wonder ever more people want to drop off the grid. The sad thing is that we know the modern American government won’t allow that.

Riley, a 22-year-old nursing student, was murdered in Georgia for jogging alone (as the Associated Press insinuated) or by an “Athens Man” (according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution)—anything other than the realities of her alleged murderer Jose Antonio “Athens Man” Ibarra being an illegal migrant from Venezuela, arrested and released once already since his arrival in September 2022.

Meanwhile, Bushnell, an active duty member of the United States Air Force, streamed his suicide outside the Israeli embassy in Washington D.C. to protest the war Israel is waging against Hamas. According to Bushnell, in a video he posted online of the horrific and extreme act, he did so because “I will no longer be complicit in genocide.”

It’s crazy—maddening even—to witness the day-to-day live streaming of America’s self-sabotage and destruction.

Somewhere, I can hear Peter Finch’s iconic “I want you to get mad” speech from the Network, which is now more timely than ever:...

If you have a computer, which you obviously do you aren’t ‘’off the grid’’ You’re smack dab in the middle of it.

I didn't say I was "Off the grid". But I am most certainly not "Smack dab in the middle of it" either.

I'm on an island in Alaska with about 2500 other souls in a small town. The economy here is based on commercial fishing with about 600 commercial boats, each a small family business, in the harbor. There is some tourism - hunting, sport fishing, glacier tours - that sort of thing.

We have all the basic services, as you noted. There are 12 churches (There were 13 but the Catholic church burned down last year) and two saloons, Moose, Elks... and an excellent K-12 school.

You can't get here (Or leave) without an aircraft or a boat and you can't be an anonymous "Stranger" in town for more than few hours. Are you personally acquainted with ALL of the law enforcement officers in your county? It's probably not possible. We have twelve LEOs on the island: Ten police officers and two state wildlife troopers. They are not strangers. We know all of them and their families. They know all of us and ours.

Until recently we were living on our boat, cruising around the Pacific looking for the right situation. We bought a house in November.

Obviously, Wild caught salmon and halibut as well as wild game like venison and moose are plentiful. We got into a "Hui" to raise meat chickens ashore last summer. A bear got into the coop and killed four of them but we still got plenty into the freezer. I don't even know what eggs or beef cost in the store these days. We get all of the above in trade.

No. I did not say we are off the grid. What I said was "I am as far off grid as I care to be."....and I have a blue water sailboat with thirty years of experience using it over tens of thousands of sea miles...just in case.

Got a better plan?

No FRiend I haven’t a better plan then what you’ve got. More power to you. Guess you’re as far as it gets. What happens if this carrot in The White House decides to sell Alaska back to the Russians?.

Knowing this sob he’d do it a heart beat for the right price.

I live in southern NJ on the outskirts of The New Jersey Pine Barrens, acres and acres of trackless pine forests were the supposed Jersey Devil is supposed to live,( yeah, right.)

If I were ten years younger I’d talk the wife into selling the house and making our own little place some where out there and the hell with every body.

Are you any where near the Pribilof Islands?

Anyway, smooth sailing.

Sounds like a place where you’d need a sweater in July.

As I said, smooth sailing.
