This is refreshing. Regular folks stop a shoplifter at a Home Depot in Vermont as he tries to get away with a cart full of stolen goods. He forgot he wasn’t in San Francisco.

Lots of F bombs flying as the HD thief gets thwarted and abused
A lot of the problem with a shoplifter will depend on whether or not he/she is armed, co-conspirators present, or if Mr. or Mrs. do-gooder is alone or armed. Several ways it could go down. I would like to see the perp detained every time, but that may not be feasible. If it looks very good for a perp takedown, then maybe it needs to happen as often as it looks like a good possibility.. The idea here is to try to discourage other would-be criminals.
You have never shopped a Family Dollar or Dollar General. They have the mostly the same household merchandise, only a much smaller selection, that Walmart has. Of course, the pricing is inflated due to the massive shrink involved.
My mistake, 31 gallon trash can

That’s what police and security (loss prevention) are for.
Three great rants in one flick.
Oh ok, when you said Dollar Store I’m picturing a DOllar Tree which everything in the store is $1.00 but now with Bidenflation it’s $1.25. I don’t consider Dollar General a true dollar store as there are prices over $10 for items.
The stores just write it off. Cheaper than lawsuits and hospital bills. But I predict something very bad gonna happen eventually.
My only claim to fame was telling a guy who was taking a 24 pack of soda to not take it, because he was stealing and was wrong. He put the item down and left the store. Probably came back later, cause store staff said they have a lot of theft.
This shoplifting hurts everyone with price increases and locked up goods you have to run around to find an employee to unlock the cages for you.
People like this should be stomped within an inch of their life in the parking lot for this crap.
Dollar Tree in my neck of the woods now as up to $5 until the freezer section. Most of stuff is $1.25...
Went to the brand 99 cent store. Almost NOTHING is 99 cents. Saw 2’x3’ framed mirror for $19.99. Checkout line was about 10 people long. Very few items worthwhile, cost wise. Better prices at Dollar Tree and even Walmart. Will not go back, unless I have no choice.
That’s what I thought when I went into a Dollar General once or twice. Crappy products and about the same price as Publix or Walmart.
Our nation declines when we stand back
There was a Dollar Tree that I serviced. The store was burgled one night. This crime, I thought, was the height of stupidity. Why would someone break into a place and risk going to jail when the most valuable thing you could steal was worth a dollar?
Stupidity knows no bounds.
This is the way.
Call it a citizens arrest.

I LOVED it!!! Should be a lot more of that.
They did an excellent job taking down the scumbag. Bravo! Their only mistake was to allow someone to film it. That’s a bad move.
Retail employees aren’t allowed to stop shoplifters or they get fired. At no point does a corporation consider the employee to be the good guy.
Exactly this. If stores don’t want shoplifters they will set up and staff the store accordingly. Or pay their employees enough to where they actually care. But they didn’t and they don’t so I just take my cue from them and try not to overthink it.
