Over many years now I also traveled, worked or lived internationally, by my count to 21 countries on three continents, some with the US Army, others on business.
Nothing I've ever done involved seriously troubled areas.
As I look around the western style democratic countries, I see the vast majority are just fine, with ordinary people like you and I going about our lives as best we can.
I do agree that on the fringes of society there are a lot of strange & disturbing things happening, things that a new more conservative government will deal with and end as appropriate.
But I also think much of it is exaggerated out of all proportion by click-bait hungry news media and so reality today is still mostly what was many years ago.
For just one example -- our borders are a huge problem, but totally Democrat inflicted, and solvable if the good guys win in November.
So, I do agree we have unusual problems, but not that they are intractable, given good conservative leadership.
