Pretty sure this is all AI related. My least favorite uncle the only entity capable of sustaining a “price is no concern” attitude. Mostly in his most secret of secret places.

This is what led me to sell. Note the two closing candles on the QQQ hourly. Very toppy looking, IMHO. That, and it never broke through the 439.14 resistance from Feb 12 ("Missed it by THAT much!"). I don't expect a bear market, just enough profit taking to justify a swing:

I like trailing stocks in the same space ..
I just need to make sure my research is solid.

“But lower priced stocks tend to have a more inflatable upside ...so”

If that were true we would see momentum following a stock split but studies do not show a correlation.

Casual small investors may think so but the market is controlled by big money and big money doesn’t decide their picks by which stock has the lower price.

A year ago, Nvidia was trading at 2x the price of Amazon. Which one had the higher upside?

No better example than a stock split. Same stock, lower price.

And yes, people still don’t get it.

Ha! Thanks. It’s a process. Stockcharts to Snip to Imgur to FR, getting every jot and tiddle perfect. still kinda crude, but it gets the point across. I’m just getting used to it.

I appreciate you and everyone, and being able to bounce ideas around. It beats working in a vacuum, with no validation.

Continued success in all you do.

“trailing stock”

What are you referring to and how is it relevant?

“Nvidia was trading at 2x the price of Amazon”

I don’t concider AMZN and NVDA ...to be in the same space,at least form my point of view...

AMD however, is in the space...
NVDA @ 800 up 17%
AMD @ 180 up 11%

This is just my off the cuff, without digging in,
I would rather have 18000/100 in AMD then 80000/100 in NVDA
even with NVDA on this run, I would rather take my chances getting that 6% on the options buy/sell ..
80000 would give me 100 NVDA and one contract.... or
80000 would give me 444 AMD and 4 contracts(round up to 5)
I’n not going to pull up the numbers right now ...
but someone feel free .. and check my math.. I’m old and I’m tired

Other ideas?

remember ... not financial advise .... ENTERTAINMENT only

Thanks for showing that the lower priced stock has the lower upside.

AMD has a p/e of about 350. NVDA about 100.

AMD revenues you DECREASED in 2023. NVDA increased 250%.

I go with NVDA.

““trailing stock”

A lesser know stock in the same space that tends to ride the coat tails of a leader in that space

“AMD revenues you DECREASED in 2023. NVDA increased 250%.”

good example of why you don't “invest” off the cuff

but without the particulars ... with just the example numbers ... I still would lean toward AMD ... with the particulars ..

I don't know .... a lot of variables beside revenue and pe
I haven't looked at AMD or NVDA ... not my circus ..not my monkeys..

But now I am getting curious.....

AMD excels in the server space. That’s why Meta chose them. Nvidia’s AI chips are $90k, AMD’s are $30k, and Nvidia can’t meet demand. If you were building a server farm, and not a bespoke machine, which would you go with?

“with the particulars ..”

You don’t need particulars. You declared AMD was the better choice because it was 1/3 the price.

I am not building a server farm. NVDAs growth far exceeds AMD. NVDA chips out perform AMDs.

NVDIA sales are 8x those of AMD. AMD is losing share and revenue while NVDAs revenue is exploding!

META chose AMD three years ago. I don’t think those were AI chips as AMD just announced their AI chip.

Did I?

hmmmmm .... I don’t usually declare things ... just goes to show how the old grey matter can slip.
Might be the meds.....
