My Sony flat screen TV is old and is rebooting at least once a day. And the pimps at Sony have overridden my "preferences" to hawk their "woke" alerts and advertisements. All this on the home screen.
Since I'm going to upgrade anyway, is there a brand that doesn't pimp the Psuedo Cause du jour when it fires up?
I don’t know but we decisively and deliberately go out of our way to avoid buying any *smart* anything. We even had trouble finding a smart chain saw. It’s ridiculous.
*Dumb* TV’s can be had according to mr. mm, but electronics are his department so I leave that to him.
I’m very happy with my Samsung.
Ooops..... correction......
We even had trouble finding a chain saw that wasn’t *smart*.
Mr mm sent me this.

I haven’t noticed it with my LG.
I have a six year old Samsung that does not do that.
My 3 year old 52” Samsung 7 Series doesn’t do that.
I have a new Sony but I run a streaming device through it so I don’t see any of what your describing.
The times I have been at the Sony home screen I don’t recall seeing anything either.
My 2 year old Sony works fine and not sure what you are experiencing.
I have an old, wall-mounted Samsung 82” QLED 4K Smart UHD TV, that doesn’t.
We got our two smart TVs in 2016, and haven’t noticed anything like this.
The prior owners of our house left about 10 TVs. Not sure how old, but we don’t see ads on the ones we watch.
I am so tired of smart everything. They wanted to connect our Sleep Number bed to the internet. Also the clothes washer. Nonsense.
Gotta wonder if you’ve picked up a virus or something else that became embedded. I’ve got a 7ish year old Sony Flat Screen Smart TV and don’t suffer your problem. I do experience more frequent updates and rebooting like once every month or so. But no advertisements.
We don’t have a smart TV. It’s just an old flat panel that works good, real good.
A person has got to realize many smart devices are actually smart enough to monitor your activities. Most know cell phones and modern vehicles do such. However anything “smart” with a camera, microphone and wireless capabilities may be used against a person.
Many are ignorant of this, especially cell phones. And right now we have many locked up in dungeons because their cell phones were used to pinpoint their locations.
So as long as our little flat panel keeps working, we’ll keep using. These days, newer is seldom better.
Just about every TV is supposedly smart so you need to be smarter. You can reset your advertising IDs in the S/W via settings and you can actually install adblockers on your smart TV. Here’s a link on how to do that on different TVs:

Good golly...do you have to wear sunscreen when you watch it? Do you get cravings for over-priced popcorn and candy?
I have noticed any with my LG either.
It’s a big one alright, but not in the “home theater” category until it reaches 95”-plus. Heh, I can sit 7-8ft away or 15ft+, and the reception is beautiful. The new 8k units are nowhere as good, as they were rushed out too fast.
3 year old LG 65”. Have not had anything like you describe. Streaming YouTubeTV. Pretty much seamless.
Out of curiosity, what makes a chainsaw “smart”? I haven’t bought one in a very long time.
I agree about avoiding “smart” things wherever possible. We may have to replace our living-room TV before much longer, and every set I’ve seen in stores is “smart”. I’d love to hear about a “dumb” TV that’s currently being sold.
