Tell me about it. Mahomes would have been flattened in the NFL anytime before the 2010’s, and l3flop would have gotten an elbow in the face if he pulled his antics in the 80’s or 90’s.

Mahomes would have been flattened in the NFL anytime before the 2010’sWe needed to change the rules to protect the QB. While we're doing that, we have to limit the QB in what he can do. One of my proposed rule changes would be that the QB is forbidden from running the ball.
That would limit the damage Mahomes can do on the field if he is limited to passing the ball or handing it to the running back.

The rules changed. The fact that Tom Brady survived for so long was not a hat tip for him, but that the NFL got tired of losing their highest paid player. Brady wouldn't have survived as long during the 70’s or 80’s, nor would have his receivers.

Nah, the "in the grasp" rule was in play in the '80s, and Mahomes is pretty slippery (just as Montana was). As it is, he didn't rely on the pass much (besides one 45 yarder) until the last drives in the late 4th and OT.
Fran Tarkenton was not large, and he wasn't flattened. He also had a good o-line. Pat Haden wasn't flattened until half-way in '79 (in the greatest defensive performance ever, against the Seahawks), and he was REALLY small, and npt all that mobile. He had a GREAT O-line.
