No. It is not common.

Sure it is. Bet I have at least 10 Aldi locations within an hour of me in Ohio. There are 2362 locations nationwide so about 45/state. I’d call that “pretty common”.

Questions Clients Ask About This Industry There are 63,385 Supermarkets & Grocery Stores businesses in the US as of 2023, a decline of -0.6% from 2022.

I’d say 3 percent is not “common”

I didn’t say I never saw it. I said it is not common. If it was, every metropolitan grocery chain would do it as opposed to having cart corrals and lot attendants.

I shopped at Aldi twice, didn’t buy anything, and don’t think I saw one celebrity or millionaire in the entire store.

It’s like telling someone from New Jersey that self serve gasoline is everywhere.

We don’t have them in my town of 70,000+ which is 35 miles SW of Phoenix. We have 11 in the Phoenix metro but none in Scottsdale where I lived for 14 yrs, so they’re not ubiquitous here like Safeway or Fry’s (Kroger). They also close at 8 or 9 pm whereas every other major grocery store in the state closes at 11 pm.
