I remember reading something, a long time ago, like back in the early 1990's, that a bunch of Army folk tried to communicate with the "spiritual realm" and find out what would happen before the entire world plunged into chaos, what we say is the Tribulation period.

Not a rumor. The story now is that the affair didn't start until after Harry was born. Harry was born in 1984, the official story is that Hewett and Diana didn't meet until 1986. At least Hewett managed to survive. His immediate predecessor didn't (Mannakee), dying in a motorcycle accident. He allegedly didn't get there until 1985, so he's not a candidate.The other 5 to 7 guys known or rumored were later in line.
