“I’ve never been to Moscow, never want to go there, but I doubt that it is as dangerous as these once GREAT and very safe American cities once were. And before you decide to poo poo what I’ve written, unlike YOU, I have actually lived, FOR MANY YEARS, in two of the American cities I named. I live somewhere else now and would NEVER go back to either one.”

Good grief. What’s with all the emotionalism on this Moscow thing? I have no idea why you guys are attempting to compare a US citizen walking around in Moscow to one of our cities, but there is no comparison and re: the subject I was addressing... it has absolutely NO correlation. My comments concern the safety of a US citizen in Moscow. There’s a hot war going on and anyone with an ounce of logic might concur that it’s just not a good idea to go there. And hell, it’s not as if there hasn’t also been plenty of government warnings to that effect.

So, now...what? The US Embassy in Moscow AND the State Department AND the Travel State Gov office are all lying by saying it’s not safe? For what purpose?

The U.S. embassy raised its Russia travel advisory to Level 4 “Do Not Travel” status “due to the unprovoked and unjustified invasion of Ukraine by Russian military forces, the potential for harassment against U.S. citizens by Russian government security officials, the singling out of U.S. citizens in Russia by Russian government security officials including for detention, the arbitrary enforcement of local law.”

Do not travel to Russia due to the unpredictable consequences of the unprovoked full-scale invasion of Ukraine by Russian military forces, the potential for harassment and the singling out of U.S. citizens for detention by Russian government security officials, the arbitrary enforcement of local law, limited flights into and out of Russia, the Embassy’s limited ability to assist U.S. citizens in Russia, and the possibility of terrorism. U.S. citizens residing or travelling in Russia should depart immediately. Exercise increased caution due to the risk of wrongful detentions.

I was NOT comparing Moscow with the cities I listed re living there, nor even suggesting going there.

I was simply stating the horrible FACTS about three cities ( I could have made that list longer, but kept it brief ) that I know well; especially two of them. I know EXACTLY what two of these cities were once like and what they ARE like now. You can't even be in the most expensive, "elite" places in those two places now...even in the day time...without taking your life in your hands!

Many American cities are neither safe nor clean! Tourists really can't/shouldn't go to historical sites, elite shopping districts, or even museums, which were once FREE, but now cost huge sums. And many hotels have been given, free of charge to them, CRIMINAL ILLEGAL ALIENS!

Both London and Paris are as bad!

Think that you aren't spied on, in many American cities and yes, even small towns? THINK AGAIN!

My first post to you and this one are rebuttals to your blinkered, uneducated comments re American cities; especially that whopper about people being "free" here.
