CHARLESTON, WV (WOWK) – The West Virginia State Senate has passed a bill designed to keep slow drivers out of the fast lane.
Senate Bill 441 was introduced to the State Senate in January with a goal of restricting slow drivers from driving in the left lane, or the fast lane, of multi-lane roads. It would require drivers to remain in the right lane, except in circumstances such as passing a vehicle, preparing to exit to the left or if the right side of the road is in need of repair or otherwise unsafe to drive on, among other exceptions.
Should the bill pass the House and be signed into law, the West Virginia Division of Highways would also be required to post appropriate signs to alert drivers of the rule to keep right.

Make lawbreaking easy for those who habitually break the speed limit LAWS.
Will Sanctuary LANES become the rage?
How long will it be before we have different minimum speeds for each lane of a multi-lane road?
Yep. When I moved here the problem was obvious instantly. But I will give them this: though this is a problem everywhere, they are not nearly as bad at camping out in the passing lane as People in Western Washington are.
I was driving back from a wedding in Billings, Montana once and me and three other cars were doing about 90 on I-90 for a very long distance. Whenever we came on slower cars in the passing lane, they would pull over for us, usually pretty quickly. But between Billings and Helena there were four cars that simply would not pull over. We all ended up eventually having to pass them on the right.
Three of the four had washington plates.
The left lane for passing only always has a hidden subscript, “Except for you Karen/Karl, you’re special”
I have traveled through WV a few times and I don’t recall seeing any left exits.
Here in CT we have a lot of them so slowpokes sometimes have no choice and have to get in the left lane.
Wait, there are people who drive the speed limit in Florida? Who knew? (Except in Jupiter where the police get a steady income stream from people exceeding the speed limit on rt 1)
Ohioans hardest hit.
This works well in Georgia
If you are driving less than the maximum allowable, and there are seven cars in the immdiate spaces behind you, you are required to pull over and let them pass.
If the guy behind you is following so close that you cannot safely pull ove what are you suppoed to do? I ran into this years ago on the coast highway on vacation in a camper. By the time you could identify a place to pull over and let the maniacs by it was not possible to do so without getting hit in the a$$.
Frequently the case on I-95 between Wash. DC and Richmond, VA
Like there is an invisible sign on left side of interstate: “Slow Drivers in 2 Left Lanes”
But I admit that at times the drivers in the left lanes are going 80-90mph......in teams.....
I think you mean parallel ….
