A 79 year-old retired Michigan middle school worker faces four years in jail after being charged with sending sexual text messages and Snapchats to an underage child.
Sue Ann Asch, 79, is accused of sending the messages to a child she knew in September 2023, the same month she retired as a paraprofessional education assistant at Kalkaska Public Schools.
Michigan State Police said that Asch turned herself in after a felony warrant for her arrest was authorized on January 8.
Investigators then seized multiple electronic devices from her home in West Street.
The devices were sent to the state police computer crimes unit, and a report was submitted to the Kalkaska County Prosecutor's Office for review
Police began investigating after interviewing the child in September at the Traverse City Children's Advocacy Center.
Kalkaska Public Schools Superintendent Rick Heitmeyer told upnorthlive.com that Asch worked for the school district from 2012.
He said she was a paraprofessional at Kalkaska Middle School at the time of her retirement in September.
Asch was arraigned on Monday in a district court on one count of accosting children for immoral purposes.
She remains in Kalkaska County Jail facing a $5,000 bond ahead of her next scheduled court appearance on February 12.

A charge ANYONE can bring against persons in authority over children, regardless of their employment status.
Contact your local sheriff if you believe that a teacher (or anyone) is ‘grooming’ or inappropriately discussing sexual content with children.
NOTE: The hinge point will be whether the teacher is isolating the child to discuss sexual content; one-on-one ‘counselling’.
Another route to short-circuit the perverted educators is to executed a Personal Order of Protection for your child.
Again, talk to your local sheriff.
