This is one of the reasons I question the governmental push for seatbelt use and smoking cessation.
I think the particulates in smoking are problematic, but lowdose nicotine may have some benefit (note niacin = nicotinic acid).
Similarly, does seatbelt use load the pipeline with organ donors? I had a colleague in a high-end sedan in a very minor accident at an intersection; his wife was in the back seat bucked up and suffered spinal cord injury, paralyzing her from the neck down. The ER docs at a major university hospital stated some thing like, ‘damn those seat belts, again”.
