As we commemorate the 9/11 terror attacks, we’re taking a look back at “CBS Evening News” anchor and managing editor Norah O’Donnell’s 2021 interview with Air National Guard pilots Lt. Gen. Marc Sasseville and Heather Penney. They recounted the harrowing events from that Tuesday morning in 2001 when they heroically rushed into their F-16 fighter jets in what they knew might be their last mission to protect the nation’s capital after the World Trade Center attacks in New York City. I recall very early reports from that day saying that one of the engines from Flight 93 was found about a mile from the crash scene. I would not be surprised if 93 was intercepted. I have no doubt the passengers were on the move.
