Interesting cover.
Johnny Cash didn’t write “Hurt,” Trent Reznor (of Nine Inch Nails) did.
Johnny Cash improved it. The AI is Johnny Cash’s voiced autotuned to sound like Darth Vader.
My son’s prof in audio engineering was a former member of NIN.
I’m still trying to find the Everett Dirkson cover of “Wild Thing”
It’s Darth Vader so that the voice quality can suck.
AI needs to stick to its day job.
In due time, it will have lots of day jobs, including yours and mine.
FYI
It’s too bad that science fiction isn’t more popular.
The theory of evolution means that every animal creates its own successor.
It’s on the flip side of Jack Kennedy singing Wild Thing.
This one song is introducing a lot of young people to Johnny Cash. I’ve been surfing Youtube and there are a lot of people posting videos about listening to Johnny Cash for the first time in their lives.
I expect it’s introducing a lot of young people to Darth Vader, too. ;)
One aspect of aging that I did not anticipate, is that you stop talking to people when you realize that the references you make mean nothing to them.
Forgot to ping Darth!
It’s called the great forgetting. Each generations moves on from what a previous generation attached itself to and forgets. Generational knowledge is only good for about 3 generations before they have to learn everything over.
Trent Reznor, upon hearing the song, said “it’s not my song any more”.
Johnny Cash so owned this song that Reznor knew nobody would remember that he wrote it.
Question: What constitutes a "cover" for a song, and is it legal?
For example, if someone makes a video of a song and puts their own animation/pictures over it, is that a "cover" and can the person be sued by the artist/writer for copyright infringement?
Just wondering. I see a lot of these types of things on Youtube.
Overall, you just do it. Seriously, that’s the law.
However, you do have to pay a fee of $0.091 for every song you press to sell an album that you are doing a cover on.

Johnny Cash made it his own.
