I've been to Woodstock several times as a kid at summer camp in the Andes Mountains in upstate New York.
It was an annual excursion that the camp did, since it was only an hour's drive away.
We would also do a similar trip to Cooperstown, since it was about a 90 minute drive from the summer camp.

The one in 1994?... I was there, the "mudfest, offering gospel tracts in the midst, near the South gate. Most were receptive. Praise God.

My spouse and I were at Fort Benning, Georgia when Woodstock took place.

My roomates all went. I said no thanks.
When they got back, they were filthy and very unhappy.
I was drunk watching Scarface. Good times...

I knew two people at Woodstock. One was my lawyer, the other a good buddy of mine.
Both had several interesting stories.
I was a bit too young, and my parents wouldn’t have let me go anyway.

Is Woodstock a place? It is a hippy town in upstate New York, famous for its summer stock theater.

I was too young (15). But my older brother went. He ran into the Merry Pranksters and hung out with them. It was very quiet in my home town that long weekend. My brother didn’t wear shoes and got there and back walking on the extra dungaree length of his bell bottoms.

“Not I,” says Bat Guano.
I was in Ohio attending a OANG, (Ohio Air National Guard) drill.
I don’t remember even hearing about “Woodstock.”
I know not one or any person that was at “Woodstock.”
I was 29 years old and sober, drug free and employed by a Major Airline.
Why would I be going to Woodstock?
I had seen enough drinking in college and had no idea that “Weed, etc were around. That crap missed my generation. Beer was the drug of choice.
And, I rarely passed up a beer. (Grin)

I had a cousin who was there. He was based in that general region after Basic Training. He went, got dirty and went home. Said it was a mess. The happy people there, were not happy with an obvious PFC just out of boot.

I was there with two college fraternity brothers. We arrived late Friday night in a painted VW beetle and were parked a couple of miles from the stage. We started to walk toward it but got distracted along the way …
We slept in the VW overnight. When we woke up, it was drizzling and so packed with cars and people that we felt we should either try to get out there and then or we’d be stuck for the weekend. It was truly frightening. Took us over an hour to get out.

I was an elementary school kid in Connecticut in '69.
So... I definitely was NOT at Woodstock.

Too young. I was 8. I thought Woodstock was a little bird on Charlie Brown. LOL! Pretty much the same for me. I do remember the Walter Cronkite, etc. news reports about Woodstock though. Looked like a miserable, muddy place with a bunch of filthy, drugged-out musicians and hippies in attendance. In fact, the news reports about Woodstock were my introduction to what hippies were. (yuck!)

but when you think of all the good guys getting killed or maimed in Nam, it's almost insanity for one group to be under assault and the other privilege people to be drugged up and filthy at a concert,,,because we had such an arrogant and self centered group of idiots is why our society is where it's at today.
Amen. Well said.
