Lived in Ohio almost 2 decades. Cicadas are something I definitely don’t miss. There were swarms of them at one of our kid’s graduation and it was nuts as the would fall on our out of state relatives.

I guess we don’t get the period swarms of them here in Texas like you do in the Midwest. We get the garden variety yearly green cicada’s and they almost never emerge in swarms.

I saw a video once where they snapped the tail end off and roasted it on a stick over the fire like a marshmallow. They said it winds up hard like a nut and tastes like a cashew.
