I describe my self as a Christian, libertarian conservative, Pro 2A, and Pro national defense.
I’ve been banned from several “conservative” sites for reasons unknown to me, and have gotten “Time-outs” from some not so liberal sites. Of course I never comment or read any liberal sites.
I think Free republic has improved in the last twenty years, in that they now tolerate a wider array of opinions than they used to, eg used to be, one “curse” word and you were “Zotted” and banned forever.
One thing I would like to see is concept of attacking ideas and not personalities. In addition to commentators not taking criticism of your ideas or people taking opposing ideas personally.
Last thing, we need an edit function to fix things that don’t read quite right on a third or fourth reading.
It irritates me when my Facebook comments or posts are suddenly “gone.” I am very careful of what I say but still so many are “rejected” or simply “deleted”. I am so careful over there I have not had any FB jail time at all last year whereas in 2022 I spent half the year in jail. Still my comments or posts are rejected.

Okay, I've been here since around 2007 and this is repeated cycle, but seems to worsen each election cycle. Jim tries to reign it in, posts periodically, but it is a polarized mindset and hostility that poisons too many discussions. A few people prefer rudeness, insults, name calling, and bullying over substantive discussions that a conservative forum like FR deserves.
Conservatism <> Trumpism.

This is nothing compared to what us old timers went through back in the late 90’s when FR first started. Back then you didn’t have to register and log on to make a comment. We caught H-E-double toothpicks. Of course we gave as good as we took (hehe). Have fun with it. We did. Pretent you’re a pig... enjoy the slop.
And left-wingers? There are very few here. I’d say the issues is Conservatives vs. Moderates, broadly thinking. Trump is a moderate, sometimes quite left-wing actually. I cannot think of anyone long-term posting on FR that are left-wingers. No, the challenge today is conservatives vs. Trump moderates. Again, as many people point out, Trump is not a conservative.
I subscribe to the Epoch Times. Only paper I take anymore. “Truth and Tradition”. I always enjoy any issue that has commentary by Victor Davis Hanson. Just blow them off, like water off of a duck’s back.
YES! And it ain’t always the left. I have been insulted and called names until I pretty much just read the articles and leave. Sure wish there was a site like what Free Republic used to be. But..............

Consider one most recent initiative by the House of Representatives that passed, by a 220-210 margin, the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, with only one Democrat voting in favor. So, with only one exception these legislators establish a line for defense of abortion within their Democrat Party that includes those born alive despite attempted abortion.
According to the logic for voting against this bill, an infant breathing air on its own is not a human person. Medical personnel are not only not derelict in failing to provide care, but instead must murder the baby. For Democrats (also liberals, progressives) abortion becomes an unbounded sacrament and members of their party have become truly evil. Clearly, we can’t all just get along. I am retired and find it easy and comforting to make enemies.
My FRiend, I sympathize. Especially on the relatives side. I have sibling I can’t speak to because everything in her mind goes back to some major leftist theme - Covid, race, rich “paying their share,” loving illegals, etc. etc.
I have other leftist relatives, but we avoid talking politics and find common ground elsewhere. But there’s some that are true marxist believers, and there’s nothing I can do but cut them out, for my own sanity
As to FR - its your duty to fire back at leftists, RINOs and deep-staters. FR doesn’t censor, which is as it should be. Its like growing organic crops - you have to live with pests, if its your policy not to spray to kill them.
I am convinced some are paid gubermint trolls, given their patterns, but have no proof. So always push back.
I think that freedom of speech is generally to be preferred to censorship, even when some of the speakers are very offensive. Who can be trusted to be the “correct” censor?
I am with you. I spend less time on FR because of the left wing lunatics and the obvious trolls.
