The truly interesting part is around the 2:26 mark where Kirk notes that the State Police Revocation Enforcement Arm is getting increased funding. Not doubled. Not tripled or quadrupled.
Quintupled. From $2 million to $10 million.
That is disturbing, because there aren't five-times the amount of gun crimes nor five-times the amount of FOID revocations that we've noticed anywhere. As far as we can tell, FOID applications are at all time highs and renewals so intense that the ISP delays are running afoul of statutory requirements.
So why five-times the amount of money?

“Hasn’t Chicago always been the home of political corruption in the U.S.?”
The mob got control of Chicago during Prohibition. The only real change is the mob and democrat party blended into a single entity.
If they were going to enforce legitimate Constitutional gun laws such taking guns away from violent felons and gang bangers, this would be a good thing.
But we all know that’s not what’s going to happen...

Let us not forget about the ten million Obama troops that have recently invaded our nation.. Maybe that has something to do with it.. (?)
Remember 1989 California when their first attempt at a A-s-s-ault Rifle ban also included lever action rifles?
The oppositon was so great the lever action ban part was removed and the bill shelved.
Then the state released Pat Purdy from a mental institution allowed him to buy a rifle and handgun in violation of laws, shot up the Stockton School yard then killed himself.
The shelved bill was pulled out and passed before opposition could be mounted against it.
And all but 2 county Sheriff's said they won't enforce the ban.

Just 10 months and we will...
Not for long, anyway, if there were any/many. Too many citizen still understand this.
“And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling with terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand?... The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin’s thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt! If...if...We didn’t love freedom enough. And even more - we had no awareness of the real situation.... We purely and simply deserved everything that happened afterward.”
Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn - The Gulag Archipelago
I’m aware of that. Mine is one of them.

The thing that is most angering and frustrating is that you can show them the proof and they will completely ignore it. NOTHING will be done to correct the system.
The solution is to do away with mail in ballots and early voting. Expand the voting dates to the day before and the day after the normal election day and require people to show up in person to vote. If you can’t be there on of those three days, you must have a very good reason.
So would people who do so stop saying IL voted for this.
They very likely haven’t for a while.
******
I never have…
I sincerely hope you’re right.
Another thing, as far as the “assault weapon” registration, perhaps they’re gearing up to go after those who didn’t register…..
“Another thing, as far as the “assault weapon” registration, perhaps they’re gearing up to go after those who didn’t register.”
The logistics of that are fairly daunting. They’d have to visit every gun dealer in the State, pull all of the 4473 forms (something they have absolutely no legal authority to do), and then go through them individually to see who purchased any of the now banned firearms.
Then they’d need to get in front of judges who would actually sign warrants to search the homes of 3,000,000 plus FOID holders without a shred of probable cause. Good luck with that anywhere but Cook County.
The ISP doesn’t even have the personnel to process CCL and FOID renewals in a timely manner. A friend of mine has waited 4 months for his which is now technically expired. The law says they have to be done in 60 days but there’s no enforcement mechanism if they don’t.
The entire situation is ridiculous. Non-compliance is over 95%. Pritzker likes to crow that over 25,000 registrations have happened. The estimates I’ve seen are that that is less that 1.5% of the “bad” guns out there. Hell, the members of our local rod and gun club probably have that many by themselves.
Add to that the fact that almost every County Sheriff in the State has said they aren’t going to enforce this and you have the perfect storm of non compliance with a blatantly unconstitutional law. Even if an arrest were made very few States Attorneys would actually prosecute and chances are no Republican county jury would convict.
So that’s where things stand.
L
Only around 10% from what I recall.
Some people could have moved their guns out of state, maybe…
better remember they all have homes and families
they maybe might want to ask for bachelor volunteers...
I waited for my CCL to be renewed 8 months…
You’re probably right. Hire more people to process applications.
—”Reminds me of the Daley machine but state wide”
If only that were so.
My mother was born and raised in Portage Park, Chicago and I remember the senior Daley well as a resident.
My parents settled into suburban Glenview, but for many years, Portage Park was also nice, now on a downhill slide.
We moved deep into Rock Ribbed DuPage county, now being overrun by those running from Chicago.
Daley had a well-oiled machine that produced services for its supporters, who in turn voted for the machine.
Today not much, if any machine, but a top-down system cramming down leftwing ideology and not much in services to voters. AND TAXES HAVE GONE TO THE MOON AND BEYOND.
Under the machine, the coppers were 95%+ dem voters and it was a symbiotic relationship. WIN_WIN.
Today have a look at SECOND CITY COP, a Chicago police blog.
It is open to the public, and you are welcome to post replies if you like.
Coming from Freerepublic, you will be very comfortable there. Yes, much is “inside baseball” stuff.

Years ago my wife said let’s move near the Rocky Mountains, our main pass time was rock and ice climbing.
I remember saying that I had an exceptional position at work and could never match it.
Today our children and grandchildren, like us are stuck in Illinois.
The law and its’ definitions are total garbage and should be ignored.
I can’t wait for scotus to declare it unconstitutional.
“and renewals so intense that the ISP delays are running afoul of statutory requirements”
When we mere peasants run afoul of statutory requirements we get fined or jailed. What accountability will come to the government agents here?
None, probably, because nothing’s ever a crime when they do it.
Understood. Good comment. Thanks.
