Not ridiculous to give them broccoli. Experiencing different foods is the way many are introducing food. My grandkids like broccoli. The bigger piece allows them to hold food.

I meant the baby looked too young for a big piece. I would have chopped it up smaller and fed pieces. My children loved all vegetables (most anyway) from a young age. I never bought babyfood.
