Kelly Explains Why Trump May Choose This Running Mate Despite Objections From His Base (I hope she's wrong)

There are many names being floated as former President Donald Trump’s running mate, including the ever-loyal Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY), whom he reportedly believes would be a “killer” pick. But Megyn Kelly named the possibility of another woman that could be chosen—one which would infuriate his base.

“Is it out of the realm of possibility that he chooses [Nikki] Haley? Absolutely not. It’s not. I realize that MAGA doesn’t want it. They’ve convinced themselves that Nikki Haley is against all the things that they stand for,” she told Dave Rubin.

Kelly argued he may have to just deal with the choice if he wants to win.

“He personally really must win if he doesn’t want to go to jail,” Kelly argued, predicting that if he loses he's going to jail for a long time. “If that’s your situation, I think you might be thinking, ‘MAGA is gonna get over Nikki Haley if I tell them to get over Nikki Haley.’ I know for a fact that's how Trump thinks."

What would the advantage be with pulling Haley on board? To Kelly, she would bring the moderates and independents, which Trump needs if he’s going to be victorious come November.

In 2016, Trump needed to convince conservatives he was to be trusted as a Republican president, hence the Mike Pence pick, she said.

"Now he needs something different," Kelly argued. "He needs to convince moderates and Democrats he’s not the devil, he’s not going to do a six week abortion ban, the things that drive Dems to the polls, so it does make some sense."

Rubin agreed with Kelly’s assessment.

“I could not agree more,” Rubin said. “When I see all these people that are suddenly like, 'No, he’ll never do it,’ and/or, ‘I won’t vote for him if he chooses Nikki,’ it’s like, you’ll do what Trump kind of tells you to do, actually.”

Whoever it is will be set up for a Presidential run in 4 years. Haley would never win that. The base despises her.

I want to see DeSantis or Byron Donalds. Either one will carry on America First with a very legitimate chance of serving 8 years.

I just moved to Iowa and went to my first caucus. The person who spoke for Haley was from Illinois. I read in the local newspaper another supporter for Haley just changed his party affliation from Democratic to none so he could speak about his support for Haley.

VP as successor is a recent historical development. One which the Rats no longer seem to follow. SloJoe didn’t immediately follow Zero. A glorified path was cleared for Hellary. No one can seriously think Kameltoe is SloJoe’s successor. It would be great if Trump could find a VP that strengthens the ticket and continues MAGA. I won’t hold my breath. Strengthening the ticket is the highest priority. If you don’t win the rest doesn’t matter.

I knew where most of her support is coming from. She was supposed to strip support from Trump in hopes that DeSantis might win, if she could not win herself.

If he picks her for VP would be voting to deny a Rat assuming SloJoe power. Given the stakes, that’s far far more important then what makes me happy. Yes effectively a vote for the Trump ticket but not a vote in the positive sense.

However, I can’t see it happening. I don’t see what she brings to the game. I don’t think she appeals to the suburban females. If you’re going to play the “gotta-have-a-minority”game there are better choices

It would not be outlandish for Trump to (again) select a VP candidate who isn't cut out to be a natural successor as President.

VPs rarely make for effective Presidents anyway. They are usually the kind of dopey career political hacks who don't inspire much confidence as leaders. Just look at a list of the people who filled that role over the last 40 years (in reverse order below). With the exception of Cheney (who was more than competent, even if I despise his politics), they are all losers:

Mike Pence
Joe Biden
Dick Cheney
Al Gore
Dan Quayle
George Bush I

If it has to be a counter black female VP, there are several who are actually qualified, and not in the racial sense, to wit: Carol Swain.

He chooses Haley and I stay home on election day. It would be prof positive that he failed to learn his lesson about allowing deep-state weasels into his administration.

‘MAGA is gonna get over Nikki Haley if I tell them to get over Nikki Haley.’ I know for a fact that's how Trump thinks.

To all the deniers, Trump constantly refuses to rule her out, when asked directly. It would obviously be easy for him to put all these rumors to bed, if he wanted to, which tells me a lot. And of course Nikki isn’t going to rule it out, that’s her plan. And nothing is really slowing it down yet either.

You can look that up. She’s got a very strong pro-life track record, which isn’t surprising in a state like South Dakota.

Trump can’t rule anyone out because he’s not the one making the decision. The GOP leadership will.

Noem is uncompromising enough on right to life that she has feuded with the ‘moderate’ GOP legislature. Much like Governor Reynolds next door in Iowa.

Megyn Kelly is pimping Haley big time like Trump would take advice from the likes of her no way.

Haley is a globalist democrat favoring beggar with not a thing of reasoning to offer.

Nikki] Haley.....

He would be signing his own death warrant.

Haley as VP,,,,Trump dead....What could possibly make the swamp critters happier?

In the past an incompetent VP has always made the president’s position stronger because neither side wanted the VP to become president.

But we have a very different political climate today.

Trump can not appease the left by choosing a liberal or even just a weak VP.

On the other hand, if he chose a real hard ass conservative the swamp would not dare to remove him, by law or other means.

Kari Lake, General Flynn, Tucker Car;spn....
