Ron DeSantis Failed Spectacularly In Iowa, But It Didn’t Have To Be This Way

He should have been loyal, and set his sails for 2028 and he would have done well. But revealed he is an opportunistic prick and tried to help tear Trump down. He even met with Merrick Garland just before the FBI raid.

Bye meatball.

Ron is an “instant gratification” kind of guy. He can’t bide his time, and wait his turn, because he’s a spoiled, self-serving prig. He has to have it all now. Today, he has nothing, and no political future. Anyone who thought he was the cat’s meow as Governor of Florida, and would have voted for him in 2028, found out that he was just another turd in that cat’s litter box. DeSantis revealed his true self in the past 8 months, and it ain’t pretty.

I've long admired Ron DeSantis.

Lately, however, he has come to resemble a sort of Republican version of Michael Dukakis.

His “consultants” were terrible.

Serious question, how did Biden do in Iowa caucuses? I serious can’t find a single story on it. The democrats voted there last night, right?

The Democrats mailed in their ballots instead of holding a caucus.
My husband and I recently moved to Iowa and this was our first caucus. My percent had 2 votes for Vivak, 9 for Haley, 13 for DeSantis and 99 for Trump.
These were paper ballots and counted in front of those who spoke in favor of the candidates.
The people who spoke for Haley and DeSantis spoke well, probably better then the candidates. The Trump spokes people also spoke well.

Only on “party matters”... ‘rats are doing a mail-in vote “primary” between now and Super Tuesday.

I’m guessing Biden ran unopposed there, so nothing to talk about.

From Wikipedia, Briben got 13.7%, behind Bootyjudge, Slanders, and Pocahantas.

… Having finished a distant second in the one state where he bet the farm, it’s fair to say DeSantis is probably done. That’s a shame because he could have changed the primary race if he had better understood the underlying dynamics — that Trump wasn’t his main opponent, that he needed to use the national corporate press to make his case, and that the one mistake he could not afford to make was to insult and alienate Trump voters. …
Good grief.

Just by running, he has alienated not only “Trump voters” but pro-Constitution/pro-Republic voters; not to mention those he hobnobbed with to get his campaign started are blatantly on the RINO aka Uniparty side and voters are not unaware of that. What “case” did he have to make other than the tired old never-Trumper line?? because in a party primary, Trump certainly was “his primary opponent” in the contest for the party nomination.

Wasn’t biden doing badly until he wont south carolina?

I can’t figure out how DeSantis actually thought fighting Trump was a viable strategy. All the risks vs. rewards scenarios didn’t work with this tac.

If he was hoping to move into Trumps place if he got convicted, he would have done it best by not getting on the snide with Trump supporters.

If he wanted to become Trump’s VP pick at the convention, he would have done it best by campaigning hard but not by attacking Trump.

If he wanted to look strong in this election season and come back with more cred in 2028 (as many past presidents have done and not won their first attempt), he would have best done it by not alienating more than half of the base.

I just don’t understand it

Wrong. Lawfare provided the blowout. That and the fact that Trump wisely did not debate.

What’s changed about the Iowa Caucuses?

Our new Iowa Democratic Caucuses will consist of two parts:

One part will be the mail-in expression of Presidential preference. Iowa Democrats will be able to request a presidential preference card through the mail or online. Please use the links above. The last day to request a preference card is February 19, 2024.

The other part will be our in-person precinct caucuses which will be held in person on January 15, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. The in-person precinct caucuses are when we will conduct traditional party business. We will elect unbound delegates and alternate delegates to county conventions, elect county central committee members and discuss platform resolutions that can be shared at county conventions. No Presidential preference will be taken at the in-person precinct caucuses. The results of the mail-in Presidential preference will be released on March 5, 2024.

Trump got into the race early. He had at that point....100% of the votes...

Anyone new had to pull votes away from Trump.

I don’t know. He did about as expected with the Big Guy on the ticket. Now is the time to ask ourselves who the Dems and Joe (at least when he’s aware) would most like as their opponent in November. Trump is a big, juicy target for them.
