The only thing I would disagree with her about is that Union soldiers were not fighting to end slavery. The ending of slavery was a byproduct of the war between the states, not the cause of it.
And when Georgia was founded, slavery was outlawed. Georgia was forced to legalize it in order to become a British colony.
Slavery existed in north America under the United States only from 1776 until 1865 when we ended it. 89 years. Prior to that, it was a British thing.
