He added that he and another colleague found in a double-blind, placebo-controlled trial in Current Biologyopens in a new tab or window that the anti-emetic domperidone, which "works on the stomach but barely crosses the blood-brain barrier," reduced disgust avoidance. "The fact that it worked suggests the stomach itself is involved in disgust avoidance behavior," Dalmaijer said.
An off-label use of domperidone is that it can induce lactation in women who are not pregnant. This is useful for adopting mothers. It occured to me that new mothers have to be less disgusted with dealing with stool, urine, and spit-ups.

In personality tests, conservatives generally score higher on disgust scales than do liberals.
I think anyone who does a “dirty” job, one that would make most people say ugh, as in healthcare, plumbing, animal husbandry, mortuary services, waste management, law enforcement, grows a strong stomach, at least in that field.
I doubt it makes them less conservative.

You haven’t really been intimate with your partner until you’ve cleaned them up after their having had diarrhea in their diaper.

I have observed medical people, especially the females, love telling gross out stories. I think it’s to try to show how tough they are or something.
There was one relative that was always going there at the dinner table at gatherings. Another young niece always liked to chime in.
I just get up and leave. Made the point.

Manual evacuation of the bowels? Like every single day?
Humm-idda-humm-idda....I am “not qualified” for that level of personal care. I would have to pass on this very lucrative way of making money.

They needed to spend money on a study to figure this out? Before I became an RN, I trained as a nurses aide, just to make sure I could handle the gross stuff, before I enrolled in nursing school.
