When I go to the grocery store, I want THEM to weigh my fruits & vegetables, bag my groceries (IN PAPER BAGS) and take them to my car. I am paying enough as it is, they should be providing a SERVICE. This is why I never grocery shop at WalMart.
Ain’t nobody got time for dat.
(Just kidding....good for you :)
I’m with you except for the paper bags thing.
If I wanted to do self checkout, I’d expect them to happily give me a 10%-15% discount at the total.
Where do you shop?
The only grocery stores I’ve ever seen that take the groceries out to the car and put them in the trunk for you are the military commissary stores. I have never seen a civilian store do this. Oh, they will if asked, but it isn’t routine practice.
This seems to be a regional thing.
When I lived in California and Texas, the grocery stores hired teenagers and handicapped to check out and bag my groceries.
When I visited family in New York and Florida, I had to bag my own groceries. In New York, I had to buy the bags, too.

> WalMart
who will bring it all the way to your house for not much
Well, that’s nice to know and I will sleep better tonight knowing your shopping preferences.
I just talked to a gal who is low income, she scans all her produce as a banana. Pomegranates at 4.99 per pound, scanned as a banana at 39 cents per pound, etc...
So some people like them for nefarious reasons. This is why self checkouts will soon be gone.
I’m glad I am still young enough to take my groceries to my car
