The King Arthur Baking Company is hosting a competition for bakeries and the winner gets a lot of dough.
It’s called “Baking Pitchfest 2024.” Winners get mentorship from other bakers and financial support for their bakeries.
It sounds like a great opportunity for the pastry and pie crowd. But there’s just one catch. *No white people are allowed to enter the competition.*
Only bakeries that are owned by persons of color are allowed to participate.

One poster tried calling KAF, earlier, but was told they’re
CLOSED TODAY, for a company meeting.........interesting timing, eh?
Guess what?
Hmmm..what?
They’re CLOSED TODAY, for a company meeting.
They are trying to find the lowest marketing latchkey guy/gay/it to get fired and then release a press release saying it is not the policy of KAB to discriminate and the people didn't go through the channels for the baking contest and the intern responsible is fired.
Now, isn’t that interesting timing?
Covering their asses mode.
“What would happen if there was ‘WDA’ (White Dating App) for white singles only..”
...explosions, death, destruction of personal property and retail...that kind of thing.
Interesting questions Re: percentages.
My known ancestry is Native American/European mixed ~25%-75%. My DNA test does not report any significant Native American (no markers evident, likely due to the fact that my “tribe” has been thoroughly assimilated and the very few people left on the reservation are understandably leery of giving DNA info to anyone).
However, I do have markers indicating ~9% African-American (most likely slaves who escaped & were taken into the tribe as spouses and then DNA became distributed through subsequent marriages within the group).
So??? could I bake a cake and be judged on 9% of it? Or bake only 9% of a whole cake?
Even better— do I get 9% of reparations when they’re finally forced through and handed out?
Ha!
That’s my thought, as well. ;-) CYA
Thank you.
To qualify as black do we need to submit DNA proof that meets racial purity standards—or should we provide a family tree proving we do not have even one ounce of that evil white blood?
“ Winners get mentorship from other bakers and financial support for their bakeries.”
…I’m sure it’s fine though for the “mentors and financial support” coming from white people
I sent them an email and this is the BS reply I received today:
We’re sorry to hear that this doesn’t sit well with you and you feel compelled to go elsewhere.
Helping build joyful, equitable communities that celebrate diversity is an important part of who we are as a company. It’s important to acknowledge that underrepresentation of People of Color in the agricultural and food distribution systems is a result of systematic exclusion for many centuries. There are also industry-specific barriers that POC face, including hiring bias, networking and knowledge gaps, lack of access to capital for diverse founders, and more. Baking Pitchfest is a platform that offers People of Color the connections, resources, and access they need to be successful. I hope this explanation provides some insight into the reasons behind this project.
Please know that we’ll be here and hope there’ll come a day when you feel ready to rejoin our community. We love baking with anyone and everyone. Our simple expectation is that everyone show respect for one another

Yes, I know ... what I just wrote is really offensive.
It's also what the white "DIE" promoters really think.
So what offends you: Them thinking that way, or me putting it in plain English?
“They also have a new dating app:
‘BLK’ - (Black’s only singles dating app).”
GOOD!!! This is wonderful news. I have interracial marriages in my family, and they’re a hot mess. The kids endure living in cultural confusion, and the adults do, too.
We have to walk on eggshells at family gatherings, being oh-so-careful not to inadvertently “diss” some fragile flower.
(Diversity is our strength 🙄)
“underrepresentation of People of Color”
Capitalizing People of Color. SMH 🙄
Do they sell their products in stores or just online? If in stores, we should print out several copies of the article and stick it on the stores’ shelves.
What's offensive to me are TOTAL media promotion of less than 20% of the population featured 95% in unreal situations in advertising, ALWAYS with a supposed "father image", whereas, in fact, more than 70% of the black fathers DO NOT LIVE IN THE HOMES OF THEIR BABIES, and WE (the Taxpayer) FUND that lifestyle through handouts-for-votes.
Businesses toeing the line for their financial survival, or trying to pander with "wokeness" are NOT those I will do business with.
Wow. Every word of their response is weaselly and woke. What a load of condescending BS.
I hope they did the proper DNA and blood tests to determine who the “People of Color” are....don’t want any evil white DNA or blood samples to pollute the purity of the race.
Lol.
Indeed.
I personally have nothing against it, more power to them.
It’s the hypocrisy...
