I'm gonna need some sauce. If explanation is extra long or includes gory details and or self-incriminating information, please post the dossier in Festival and link it here so peeps know it's available. If 'safe-for-work' then please, post here and confirm your heart/respiration rate is what we hope and expect.

Thanks to all for the kindness, and my sincere apologies to anyone I've overlooked.

Bad, bad wreck on 01/04, on my way home from the weekly trek into the Metro for client visits and case meetings. Although I swerved in the attempt to avoid the impact, I was about a second and a half short of having sufficient time to evade. It was awful. All airbags deployed. When my car finally came to rest, it caught fire. I had just filled the gas tank a half-hour prior, so had firefighters not come along with fire extinguishers, it would've made a very big bang indeed.

Miraculously, my injuries were very slight considering that the MVA occurred at highway speed. Airbag burn on my left wrist, a deep gash at the base of my right thumb (also from an airbag), and about a 2-1/2" gash with a hell of a goose egg on my forehead.

Sis took me to the salvage yard this weekend to take photos for the insurance company. The wrecker guy couldn't believe I wasn't killed, because there's no front end any more. Everything that wasn't made of metal had been turned by the fire into melted black blobs .

The medics at the scene thought I was nuts for declining medical treatment or ambulance transport to the hospital. But I didn't need it, and I knew it. Weird that I didn't really have any pain to speak of. And I still don't. The goose egg is gone, and although the bruising is slightly more prominent, the other wounds look like they've been healing for a week or more, not a mere 4 days.
