Thanks to all for the kindness, and my sincere apologies to anyone I've overlooked.
Bad, bad wreck on 01/04, on my way home from the weekly trek into the Metro for client visits and case meetings. Although I swerved in the attempt to avoid the impact, I was about a second and a half short of having sufficient time to evade. It was awful. All airbags deployed. When my car finally came to rest, it caught fire. I had just filled the gas tank a half-hour prior, so had firefighters not come along with fire extinguishers, it would've made a very big bang indeed.
Miraculously, my injuries were very slight considering that the MVA occurred at highway speed. Airbag burn on my left wrist, a deep gash at the base of my right thumb (also from an airbag), and about a 2-1/2" gash with a hell of a goose egg on my forehead.
Sis took me to the salvage yard this weekend to take photos for the insurance company. The wrecker guy couldn't believe I wasn't killed, because there's no front end any more. Everything that wasn't made of metal had been turned by the fire into melted black blobs .
The medics at the scene thought I was nuts for declining medical treatment or ambulance transport to the hospital. But I didn't need it, and I knew it. Weird that I didn't really have any pain to speak of. And I still don't. The goose egg is gone, and although the bruising is slightly more prominent, the other wounds look like they've been healing for a week or more, not a mere 4 days.
Glad you are okay.
(And we're gonna need all the help we can get!)
Glad you survived.
Don’t do that again. :)
Get fully healed soon.
What a story. God has His hand on you, even with your post healing.
O My!
our worst nightmare! Glad you’re “okay”....
You have scored one in the WIN! Column dude!
Thank you for the details. Someone is definitely watching over you!
Yikes!! Thank God your injuries are minor - so far... Be careful and stay alert; auto accident injuries have a way of rearing their ugly heads long after the accident is about forgotten. - - - I know!
So glad you are okay.
