Good job getting the car out of its tiny spot! I learned to drive on a manual transmission VW Bug and have only owned manuals since then. I have a 23 year old 6 speed Miata and I used to be afraid to leave it outside overnight anywhere (hotels, airports). I’ve become more relaxed about it in recent years precisely because most potential thieves can’t drive it.
It was a bright red 1957 VW Beetle. I paid $300 for it. It had a 37 HP engine with a 6v battery under the backseat and over 300K miles on the odometer.
It wasn't much but it was MINE. This one is much nicer but you get the idea.

Me too! Actually, the day after I’d learned to drive on an automatic from a Sears Easy Method instructor and obtained my license, I bought a 3 year old VW and would take it at night to the empty parking lot across the street from my apartment to practice with the gearshift until I was comfortable. I’ve only ever had one automatic vehicle since then, and very briefly, because I couldn’t wait to re-sell it.
Maybe I’ve posted this before, but several times when I had to leave my pickup truck with a valet parker when doing gigs at at Mar-A-Lago, he had to go find another one who could drive it.
