I used to read National Lampoon. One of the highlights (for me) was the “Letters from the Editors” section - fake letters written by the staff. They were incredibly funny. Sometimes brutal, but funny.

Perhaps the Grand Prize went to one letter that went like this…

Dear David:

I understand you may be coming up for parole soon. I wanted you to know, that after a lot of prayer and soul-seeking, I decided to forgive you.

I understand that it wasn’t really your fault that you were confused, and maybe even obsessed. Forgiveness seems right.

If you are released, I wanted you to know there are no hard feelings.
